Following Meta‘s protocol, the administrator and Cloud API exchange encrypted keys to establish a secure communication channel for businesses and customers. WhatsApp cannot access the content of messages between users and businesses, ensuring the privacy of information transmitted through the API.

WhatsApp acts as a messaging transport. It provides the software that forwards messages between users and servers. To safeguard users, it identifies unusual messaging patterns and collects spam reports.

Meta’s API acts as a middleman between WhatsApp and Cloud API businesses. These businesses have authorized the Cloud API to represent them. Therefore, WhatsApp routes all messages intended for these businesses to the Cloud API. Conversely, WhatsApp anticipates receiving all messages from these businesses via the Cloud API.

Security in Data and Privacy

We carefully monitor and control all data collected and stored by the Cloud API to maintain the high level of privacy that WhatsApp customers expect.

For maximum security, only the Cloud API can access your messages. Meta does not have access to this confidential information. Messages are temporarily stored for up to 30 days to ensure the platform’s smooth operation and are then automatically deleted.

Your conversations are protected by end-to-end encryption, meaning only you and the business can see your messages.

The verification with proof of life or the payments made through WhatsApp Flows, have the same technology.
